Tried the boneless wings as I'm not big on conventional ones. First off - price. Not exactly cheap. 16 bucks for 1.5 pounds which was enough to feed my girlfriend and myself, but not much left. The boneless wings are basically chicken tenders with a crunch and taste almost akin to fried chicken skin on them. interesting. Tried two flavors: canyon signature medium and general tso's. Canyon signature was extremely odd, almost Cajun like. Couldn't quite place the flavor but it seemed familiar, but strange at the same time. Honestly, I thought they were shit - put some Frank's on them and a little of the sweet sauce from the other wings. Would not order those again. The general tso's however were fantastic. Simple Asian American sweet chili sauce, but very good. These are what saved the order - despite the price I would devour this very quickly while inebriated.

Canyon wings opened just a couple months ago, and is already a late nite drunk people favorite. They not only offer wings and boneless wings with many different sauces, but also general tso on a stick for $1 and pierogies for $2 or $3 (I can't remember). I guess all this is not very surprising considering it is from the same people who own Canyon Pizza, one block away. When it comes to the wings, it's really hit or miss. The wings are of average size, and not too fatty. They have a decent selection of sauces, including a great mango habanero (not as good as otto's though) and Crazy Jacque's Brazen Cajun (a spicy less saucy blackened sauce). Other less traditional sauces include: general tso, sweet red chili, sesame oriental, curry BBQ, but I wasn't too impressed. There fries are subpar. Delivery $1 for is great, but they vary too much in efficiency and time. I've had them deliver within 20 minutes, but I've frequently had to wait over an hour. I've once even waited 1.5h before finally calling them, only to be told that that had no delivery driver that day and that they wouldn't be delivering at all (why not call me?). The worst time was when I ordered a meal for two with two sodas. They forgot the sodas, and I had paid with my credit card online. The delivery driver wouldn't reimburse my sodas in cash, so he just left. I could have refused the delivery, but I was hungry (it had been close to an hour). I called the restaurant, and the woman who answered told me that they couldn't do anything and acted like I was a big whinner for wanted my sodas. After insisting a little, she told me she'd give the phone to the manager, but he ended up being too busy to talk to me (I could hear him through the receiver) and he said he would call back. I obviously never heard from him, but about 45 minutes later (about two hours from the time I originally ordered) the delivered driver popped back and brought me the sodas. So why do I keep ordering from Canyon wings? If you want to order wings just for yourself, the place is a decent deal with its boner basket (6 wings, fries and soda for $6) coupled with the $1 delivery. Wings over doesn't deliver for so little. And, their mango wings are great. If you're interested, look them up on lionmenus (flavors listed there).

Taste wise, I feel they are right up there with Wings Over. In fact, I may even like the boned wings from Canyon just a tad more than those at Wings Over. So, why the low rating? Delivery. The first and only time I ordered from them, delivery took over an hour. When used to the usual 20 minute delivery times from Wings Over, this was quite the shock. So, if you don't mind waiting for delivery, this is a solid place to get wings in State College.

Spicy ranch! My absolute favorite. Whenever I come back to State College I have to have these.

Dear Canyon Wings enthusiasts, NEVER get the hot teriyaki flavored wings. Although it seems like it will be spicy teriyaki sauce, it only tastes like extremely hot sauce. It's horrible. 2 stars.

I've had Canyon Wings a few times, and every time, my complaints have been the same : I don't like their breading, and they give way too much sauce. I'm not a big fan of their BBQ flavors, and the breading doesn't have much flavor. They don't have awful wings, though and when you walk-in order, you get the food pretty quickly. They are also fairly cheap. However, I will never choose Canyon over Wings Over.

Best hot wings in State College. Try the hot and spicy ranch, and the deep fried pierogies are a MUST!

Pros: Local and convenient (Walking distance from many fraternities and apartments so I usually don't order out). Good price ($6 for a dozen, $19 for a 40 bucket). Cons: Can take a while during peak hours for delivery but every other place will too. Some flavors are good others are so-so. Comments: I can call in an order from my house when I'm stepping out the door, and after an 8-10 minute walk I usually only have to wait a couple more minutes if that. My favorite flavor is Jamaican Jerk.

Finally a place that does softies (boneless wings) that are NOT the portion of chicken nuggets! I thought 1/2lb of softies, fries and a soda for $7.50 was a good deal. I tried the hot teriyaki sauce and my order arrived with some sauce in the container which was great for dipping (the softies and sauce were wrapped in tin foil so the sauce didn't leak on the fries). There was a little bit of a wait, but I was patient because they were training someone. Definitely try them out!
